Historical: Pleasure Point Drive c.1930
This picture of Pleasure Point including Pleasure Point Drive was taken in the late 1930ies. Our home can be clearly seen with its long Spanish tile roof, amidst the few homes that occupy the primaraly grass covered block across from the water. Dr Norman Sullivan renamed Eucalyptus Drive to Pleasure Point Drive in 1929.

Demolition and Construction - September 23, 2009
The demolition is well underway. both lower bathrooms have been gutted with the guest bath already having its new pluming in and foundation poured. The guesthouse kitchen has also been stripped of shelving and appliances. In the main kitchen both the built-in and stand-alone appliances have been cleared. and The The basement stairs have been stripped back to beam in preparation for their move. The basement floor has been cleared of the old appliances and hydroponic pot closet. A few gems were discovered in that process.

Pleasure Point House Adventure - September 9, 2009
Pleasure Point House Adventure - 09-09-09
While we figure out the master plan and get permits for the main house, we are starting to clean up the guest unit. The current plan is to fix up and move into the 1 bed/1 bath guest.
Goodbye woodshed/surfboard storage
Saving the tiles from the woodshed/surboard storage. They'll be used to replace broken tiles on the main house.
Guest house bedroom - goodbye carpet
Looking from guest house bedroom into main house kitchen. Hi Zachary!
Zachary's first visit to the house. He was a little unsure and he wouldn't venture upstairs. I guess we aren't the only ones who don't like the dark staircase.
Taking apart the guesthouse kitchen and removing the flooring.
Opening the wall between the main kitchen and guest house. This is where the original door to the garage used to be. Well, not "original" since the original house had a detached carport. We haven't figured out when the attached garage was added yet. We do know the conversion to a 1 bed/1 ba occured in 1986.

Pleasure Point House Adventure, Day 1 - September 2, 2009
Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at 2:32pm
As most of you know we moved back to Santa Cruz about a month and a half ago. Shortly after we arrived we met with our realtor to get the lay of the land and find out what was on the market in our price range. In typical Renda style we looked at 2 houses and stopped the search at #3. It was a house I had been tracking over the last year listed for as much as $2 million at one point. The house had just gone into foreclosure and was being offered for almost nothing. Of course we were in no financial position to buy a house after earning almost no income for the last 3 years but knew we had to try. We put our offer into the hat with 8 others and went back and forth for a few weeks. When all was said and done our offer was excepted. We bought the house as is and as you can see we are in for a BIG adventure! We have to give HUGE kudos to our amazing mortgage brokers (Kevin & Doug Cooper) and a few great friends (thanks Kevin and Helene). I still don't quite understand how we qualified for a loan and how they pulled this together in 30 days!!! (Yes, we would be happy to give you their contact information)
